RURU MADRID DEDICATES 'BLACK RIDER'S' NEW YORK FESTIVALS WIN TO 'UNSUNG HEROES'

Ruru Madrid shared “Black Rider’s” win at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards with important Filipino heroes.

In an Instagram post, the Primetime Action Hero honored "unsung heroes and Filipinos facing life's challenges."

"We share this New York Festival medal with you," he said. “Many thanks to the judges, Kapuso, and the entire nation for believing that we can all be heroes like Black Rider."

“Black Rider” won a Bronze medal from the award-giving body. It is the only entertainment program from GMA Network that was recognized. New York Festivals TV & Film also awarded six documentaries and special reports from GMA Public Affairs and GMA News.

In the action-packed GMA Prime series, Ruru portrays Elias Guerrero, a delivery rider who fights for justice for his family and community.

“Black Rider” also tackles themes of social class, and how the rich use their power to challenge the lives of the poor.

Joining the star-studded cast are Yassi Pressman, Matteo Guidicelli, Jon Lucas, and many more.

Michelle Dee, Angeli Khang, Isko Moreno, Joaquin Domagoso, and more are also part of the cast.

Jillian Ward is set to make a cameo as her “Abot Kamay na Pangarap” character, Doc Analyn Santos, in the series.
